When Everything Changes

Time. A fundamental aspect of the universe that we measure in such an arbitrary way, by the movement of a planet around a star not even my own. And yet, sometimes even in an arbitrary measurement scheme there are patterns and alignments.

25 years ago I stood on the cliffs near my parents’ home with a friend from school, son of one of my father’s colleagues, watching a meteor storm until the light of the morning sun washed them from the sky.

10 years ago I stood with him in the grove below the slopes of Mount Seleya.

1 year ago I stood on the bridge looking out at the wreckage of the Noether. Nothing has been the same since then.

What are we going to find at Brissid?
